August 27, 1991
MARSEILLE, France (AP) _ Boris Danichewsky, a physician for the French relief agency Medecins du Monde, or Doctors of the World, has died near Moscow while on a relief mission, the agency announced Monday. He was 73.
Danichewsky died Sunday at a hospital in Rizan, an agency spokesman said. She did not know the cause of death, but said he had reported being tired lately.
Danichewsky emigrated to France from the Soviet Union with his family at the age of six. He fought in the Resistance against the Nazi occupation of France during World War II.
Danichewsky practiced medicine in Marseille until his retirement in 1985, when he took up humanitarian work for Medecins du Monde, a volunteer group that specializes in emergency relief."
