Monument des commandos à Spean-bridge (Ecosse)

Lors d’un récent séjour en Ecosse, à Mallaig, proche de Spean-bridge, j’ai visité le musée et me suis rendu au monument. Au jardin du souvenir attenant, j’ai relevé une plaque commémorative au nom de Raymond Hervo, Français Libre, commando n° 4.
Renseignement pris localement, il s’agit effectivement d’un commando qui après la guerre, s’est établi à Fort-William (Ecosse) où il a fondé une famille et exercé la profession de cordonnier.
Il est décédé en 2014.

During the war Scotland became a training ground for both British and foreign soldiers who wanted to be commandos.
Ronnie Williamson desperately wanted to join the commandos and a reconstruction shows what his interview was like.
Two foreign commandos, Raymond Hervo from France and Tadeusz-Apfel Czaszka from Poland talk about their impressions of Scotland, their training here, how they used their training against the enemy, and about their interaction with the Scottish people.
The programme also looks at why they both decided to settle in Scotland after the war."
