"THE ONCE AND PERHAPS STILL LUCRATIVE TRADE IN POLISH MILITARY DECORATIONS, THE REVIVAL FROM THE ASHES OF AN ORDER OF ST. STANISLAS AND PROFIT-MAKING VETERANS' ASSOCIATIONS (1)

by Dr. PANGLOSS"

"In Canada, these Polish decorations as well as the Polish Cross of Freedom and Independence with Swords (10) may be obtained through the President, Western Canada Sector Delegation of Great Britain (FCAEE)(11) RR1, Naramata, British Columbia, Canada, VOH 1NO.(12) Some of the President’s diplomas may be seen on pages 384 and 385 of Prof. Dr. Zdzislaw P. Wesolowski's book "Polish Orders, Medals, Badges and Insignia", a most valuable and thoroughly researched study on the subject. A close examination of these diplomas will show them to be signed by "General" Antoni "Commandant Daniel" Zdrojewski, whose activity was discussed in a paper on the "neo-Templars". One can say without fear of contradiction that where Mr. Sokolnicki is, Zdrojevski is not far behind. Now that Poland has rejoined the ranks of democratic nations it will be interesting to see into what field of activity Mr. Sokolnicki projects himself."

"THE NEO-TEMPLARS by Dr. PANGLOSS"

Shortly after the second World War, there erupted in Portugal a "Supreme Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem." This group traced its ancestry back to Fabre -Palaprat and his successors. Since 1942 its Grand Master or Regent was F. Don Antonio Campello Pinto de Sousa Fontes who died in 1960 and passed the Grand Magistracy to his son F. Don Fernando Campello Pinto Pereira de Sousa Fontes. The Order gained some popularity in Europe and candidates were willing to pay exorbitant sums for admission. In 1970 the Grand Prior for France was a naturalized Frenchman of Polish origin "General" "Count" Antoine Zdrojevski (7) who had headed some Polish resistance forces in France during the Second World War under the pseudonym of "Commandant Daniel". In 1971 the Zdrojevski group in France unbeknownst to the latter, was being eyed covetously and infiltrated by the Service d'Action Civique (S.A.C.), a "parallel police" instrument of the French Gaullist government whose function it was to maintain that government in power by any means fair or foul. The Portuguese magistracy of the order was a serious impediment to the SAC and the latter arranged to hold a rigged election to ensure that Zjdroeski become the Grand Master of the order. Once Sousa Fontes eliminated it was to be smooth sailing for the SAC for a time."

"So now I'm sure I was mistaken a little because there is no other general Zdrojewski in 1960.

Antoni Jozef Zdrojewski (1900-1989) - yes, I know the initials on the sabre are different, but it doesn't matter while he was called commandant DANIEL what surely replace his real name. So the A is for Antoni and instead of second real name, officers used his alias name from the time of his conspiracy.

This person is very interesting and few basic informations about him can be found on Polish wikipedia, but because most of you doesn't know this languge I will remind only few facts.

Zdrojewski was a fighting soldier during Polish-Russian war in 1919-1921 then he fought in September 1939 in Poland and later he escaped with Polish soldiers to France where he was very active in resistance as one of the commanders. He was very strongly devoted to France even after he moved to Spain and Great Britain after the Hitler's army had a better times in France. But he returned in 1944 to get general rank from the France resistance gov. After the war he was very known as self-appointed Polish marschall what was deffinietely eccentricity, and in 1970 he became Great Master of Templars (or neo-Templars as some people call it) in France.

It is his sabre! Congratulation"

""The Polish Government in Exile was also covertly regrouping remnants of army units (what would have been the 3rd and 4th Polish Infantry Divisions) for direct military contact to harry and destabilize the German occupation of France. SOE benefited through the action and dedication of General Juliusz Kleeberg to muster one of the largest secret armies in France. The unit became known as the Polish Organization for Fighting for Independence (POWN) and later commanded by Colonel Andrzej Zdrojewski. POWN’s prime role was to transfer military personnel to and from Britain and to provide guides and couriers for the conduit of military intelligence."
